Smith - Maxwell puts Australia strong in third Test



India vs Australia Third Test Day 1 :

With the help of captain Steve Smith's hundred and Glenn Maxwell's half century, Austalia has put 299 runs on the scoreboard on the first day of the third test match. Smith - Maxwell contributed 159 runs stand to put Australia strong in the test match.

Australia won the toss

In the third test, being played in Ranchi, Australian captain Steve Smith won the toss and decided to bat first. Australian openers David Warner and Matt Renshaw started strongly and put 50 runs on the board.

Jadeja picked Warner on 19 and gave India first break through. After Warner, Renshaw (44) also gone out by Umesh Yadav. Shaun Marsh also got out quickly just making 2 runs. Handscomb also failed to put runs on the scoreboard and got out on 19. At that stage, Australia were 140 for 4 and were in deep trouble.

But again Australian captain Steve Smith took the game away from India with his superb batting. Steve Smith smashed brilliant hundred with the help of 13 fours. Glenn Maxwell also batted well and gave Australia support with his brilliant 82 not out. Maxwell hit 5 fours and 2 sixes.



Smith and Maxwell put 154 runs for the fifth wicket. Indian bowlers failed to put Australia in pressure after initial success. Umesh Yadav got 2 wickets while Ashvin and Jadeja got 1-1 wickets.
