Chasing 231 in One Day Matches very easy - Really ?

If you ask anyone now a days about chasing 231 runs in one day internationals, the answer will most of come in yes. Even in T20 matches, this target is quite achievable. Specially if the team is India and opponent is Sri Lanka.

But in yesterdays match, India got tears in the eyes while chasing. Sri Lanka gave india target of 237 runs in 50 overs,  later it was 231 runs in 47 overs as D/L method. India started really great and in demolishing way as Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan were hitting srilankan bowlers in all the directions.

Both, Rohit and Shikhar, put 109 runs on the board and gave india a solid start. Victory was looking in hands until Akila Dhananjaya came into bowl.

Akila Dhananjaya came as a storm in indian batting line up. Dhananjaya started picking up indian batsmen one by one and put india in trouble. Dhananjaya took the big wickets like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, K L Rahul, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik pandya and Axar Patel.

India lose 7 wickets on the score of 131. India was required more 100 runs and had only 3 wickets in hand. Victory was looking tough and quite impossible now. But former indian captain and one of the best finishers Dhoni was on the creez and it was the only hope for indian victory.

Dhoni did not disappoint us and created the road map of the indian victory. Dhoni along with Bhuvaneshvar Kumar batted really well to ensure the indian victory. Both put 100 runs partnership for the 8th wicket. Bhuvaneshvar completed his half century while Dhoni made 45 runs to make india winner and taking a 2-0 lead in the series.

Akila Dhananjaya was selected as a Man of the Match.
